WRS has won Selecția Națională 2022 and will represent Romania in Turin with their song "Llámame"!

After starting with 45 songs in the selection, the top 10 competed in tonight’s final, taking place at Studio Pangrati in Bucharest. The show was hosted by Eda MarcusAurelian TemișanBogdan Stănescu and Eurovision 2017 participant, Ilinca Băcilă.

The running order was as follows:

  1. Andrei Petruș – “Take Me”
  2. Alex Parker & Bastien – “All This Love”
  3. Gabriel Basco – “One Night”
  4. Vanu – “Never Give Up”
  5. Petra – “Ireligios”
  6. Møise – “Guilty”
  7. Cream, Minodora and Diana Bucșa – “România mea”
  8. Kyrie Mendél – “Hurricane”
  9. Dora Gaitanovici – “Ana”
  10. WRS – “Llámame”

While WRS took the victory, Kyrie Mendél came 2nd with his song “Hurricane“, and the public’s favourite Dora Gaitanovici was 3rd with “Ana“.

The results were decided using a system of 83% jury votes and 17% public votes, with the Romanian public having the same of of points to give as a single jury member. This is the same system that Romania used back in 2019, the last time they had a multi-artist national final.

The show featured interval acts from the Eurovision 2022 artists of Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Moldova, Montenegro and North Macedonia. The show also included a moving from Ukrainian singer Jamala with her Eurovision 2016 winning song “1994“.

Despite a strong start to their Eurovision history, Romania have failed to qualify for the final in the last 3 editions of the contest, with the most recent non-qualifier being Roxen and her song “Amnesia“. WRS will be hoping they are the one that can take Romania back to the Saturday show.
