On the 12th of March TVP announced that Rafał is going to represent Poland with the song The Ride. At first, this song had had another purpose. Its authors wanted the song to… represent Sweden!

The song’s composers: Joakim Övrenius, Clara Rubensson, Thomas Karlsson, Clara Rubensson and Johann Mauritzson come from Sweden and they wanted Rubensson to participate in Melodifestivalen (yes, it would be three C/Klaras in one Swedish national final). It has never happened, because the song wasn’t ready until October 2020, so after the deadline for submitting songs for this contest.

A few things were changed in the original version, so it would be easier for the new artist and his skills to adjust, however the message and melody of this song remained.

Rafał has been busy in Poland recently

Several days ago, Rafał met with Senhit, the Sanmarinese representative for Eurovision 2021, in Poland, where both sang Waterloo, the first winning entry of Sweden, originally performed by ABBA in 1974. It shows perfectly, that even though this is a contest, the contestants are one big loving family.

We are going to hear Rafał performing “The Ride” as the sixth song in the running order of the second semi final on the 18th of May in Rotterdam.

What do you think of “The Ride”? Would you rather see this song representing Sweden or Poland? Let us know in the comments below!
