Oleksandr Balabanov will sing for Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2020

Ukraine’s national final for Junior Eurovision 2020 has come to an end, and we have a winner! Oleksandr Balabanov will sing the song “Vidkryvay” (Open) at this years contest.

The winner of this years online national final was decided by a mix of jury vote and online vote. The jury was made up of 8 music professionals in Ukraine. The winner of the jury vote was Oleksandr, who received points from Alina, Dmytro, Ruslana, Taras and Timur.

  • Alina Pash – singer and rapper
  • Dmytro Shurov – soloist in Pianoboy
  • Jamala – Eurovision 2016 winner
  • Larysa Klyuyevska – music editor for UA: Radio Promin
  • Lyubov Morozova – music critic
  • Ruslana Khazipova – member of Dakh Daughters
  • Taras Topolya – solists in Antytila
  • Timur Miroshnychenko – television presenter & commentator at Junior Eurovision

Olena Usenko (Ellen) finished in second place with the jury as Larysa and Lyubov voted for her, whilst Yaroslav Politov completed the top 3 of the jury vote after receiving a vote from Jamala. 

Despite winning the jury vote and being crowned the overall winner, he only managed fourth place with the online vote.

  • Olena Usenko – 16.61%
  • Yaroslav Politov – 14.27%
  • Oleksandr Balabanov – 12.6%
  • Angelina McFarlane – 3.6%
