Geneva: Elegant and International

Geneva is leveraging its strategic location near the French border, an international airport, and the expansive Palexpo hall, which can accommodate 15,000 fans. Despite its somewhat subdued nightlife, Geneva’s global reputation and infrastructure make it a strong contender.

Basel: Creative and Determined

Known for hosting large-scale events like Art Basel, Basel is leveraging its experience and the 12,000-seat St. Jakobshalle. The city’s vibrant cultural scene and proximity to Germany and France enhance its appeal.

Zurich: Opulent and Cosmopolitan

Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city, is presenting a bid with the Hallenstadion (15,000 seats) and the Swiss Life Arena (12,000 seats). Zurich is also known for its strong LGBTQ+ community and vibrant nightlife, which add to the city’s appeal. The city’s Pride events are among the largest in Switzerland, reflecting a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Zurich’s excellent infrastructure, numerous hotels, and cultural diversity position it as a favorite.

Bern: Charming and Ambitious

Bern, potentially collaborating with Biel, is seeking to host the event at a new venue on the Bernexpo site, planned for April 2025. While it has a smaller airport and limited hotel options, the city’s charm and government support bolster its bid.

Decision Pending

The final decision will be made at the end of August, considering factors such as venue capacity, logistical infrastructure, and overall readiness to host an international event. Hosting Eurovision is seen as a prestigious opportunity to celebrate music, culture, and unity, and the chosen city will have the chance to shine on one of the world’s most-watched stages.
