After the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, many people kept wondering: is Eurovision 2021 going to be an exact copy of the planned contest for the last year? The answer is no. The first example that comes to one’s mind is that the chosen songs from 2020 can’t take part in the competition this year. Even some selected artists won’t perform in 2021. The logo was also slightly changed.

This week, Sietse Bakker, the executive producer for Eurovision announced, on the Euro Trip Broadcast, that there will be a new music theme composed particularly for Eurovision 2021. The producer put it in these words:

“When we started anew in September, we put everything on the table and asked do we want to keep this? For a lot of things the answer was yes, because we believed in it.”

“We also realised we needed to rethink certain elements, because it’s different times, and with those times, it’s only appropriate to tell a different story.”

Are you a fan of the last years’ Eurovision theme music? What would you like to hear this year? Let us know in the comments below!
