Close to 1,000 entries submitted to RTVE for Benidorm Fest 2025.
The Spanish broadcaster has confirmed that since the submissions window closed on Thursday October 10th, they have received almost 1,000 entries for the 2025 edition of Benidorm Fest, and that out of these 1,000 entries, around 300 were submitted within the last 24 hours.
This figure represents a new record for Benidorm Fest, which, (since it’s return in 2022), will be heading into its fourth year in 2025. In comparison to this years edition of the festival, RTVE have received almost 200 more songs for 2025.
Now that the submissions window has closed, RTVE’s Music Advisors for Benidorm Fest – Rayden (Benidorm Fest 2022), Pablo Cebrián, Tony Sánchez-Ohlsso and Beatriz Luengo, will assess all of the entries and decide which ones will advance to the semi finals of Benidorm Fest 2025. They will chose 16 entries that will participate in the two semi finals on January 28th and 30th. The 16 participants will be revealed closer to the semi finals taking place.
Four artists from each semi final will advance to the final on February 1st, where they will compete to become Spain’s Eurovision 2025 representative and follow in the footsteps of former Benidorm Fest winners Chanel, Blanca Paloma and Nebulossa.
Since Benidorm Fest returned in 2022 as Spain’s national final for Eurovision, it has brought the country mixed results at Eurovision. In 2022, Spain returned to the top 3 for the first time since 1995 as Chanel and “SloMo” was awarded third place with both the juries and televoters. In 2023, Blanca Paloma achieved another top 10 jury placing (9th), but didn’t resonate with the televoters, who put Spain in 25th place with only 5 points. Earlier this year, Husband and Wife duo Nebulossa finished in 22nd place with 30 points.
The winner of Benidorm Fest 2025 will be headed to Basel, Switzerland for Eurovision, and will perform their song at St Jakobshalle in the grand final on Saturday 17th May.
