Another non return? Serbia Eurovision have claimed on its twitter account (@SrbEurovision) on the 29th July 2020 that Montenegro will not participate in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 happening in Warsaw, Poland.
Montenegro’s official broadcaster, RTCG, has yet to make an official statement regarding this announcement. There are however speculations that Montenegro’s withdrawal from JESC 2020 is due to budget and funding issues, as was their withdrawal from Eurovision 2020.
As of 3rd August 2020, 13 countries are confirmed to #movetheworld in Warsaw:
Montenegro participated in JESC twice, in 2014 and 2015. Their debut entry “Budi Dijete na Jedan Dan”, performed by Maša Vujadinović & Lejla Vulić in Montenegrin and English, placed 16th with 24 points.
Their 2015 entry, titled “Oluja”, is performed by Jana Mirković. Oluja placed 13th with 36 points at the contest, giving Montenegro their best JESC result thus far.
