Great news! Malta has confirmed their participation for the 2020 edition of Junior Eurovision, which will be held in Warsaw, Poland.

  2. All applicants must be between the ages of 9 and 14 and are Maltese nationals.
  3. Submission must include an original song which have not been publicly performed before May 1 2020
  4. Each act can include up to six artists (as per the EBU participation rules)
  5. Songs must ‘suit’ the age of the performer(s) and be ‘fun’ for the artist(s) to sing.
  6. The lyrics of the songs must be in either English or Maltese, or a mix of both. Lyrics in any other language must not make up more than 40% of the song.

All applications must be submitted via the following website by the 23rd August 2020.

All submitted songs will be reviewed by a panel of judges, of which 12 will be invited to perform live before the judges during a recorded session. The selected entries will be televised on local channels and social media in September. During this period, members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite entry. A combined 50% vote from the jury and 50% vote from the public will determine the song representing Malta in Junior Eurovision 2020.

Malta made their Junior Eurovision debut in 2003, and have managed to win the contest on two occasions – in 2013 and 2015. Malta was represented by Eliana Gomez Blanco in 2019 with her song “We Are More”, but unfortunatley wasn’t able to match the success of acts such as Gaia and Destiny, as she finished in 19th place with 29 points.
