Love wins! Glen Vella marries long-time partner in Malta

| August 30, 2020

True to the lyrics of his Eurovision entry, Glen Vella showed what’s in his heart. On Saturday, the 2011 Maltese representative married his long-time partner, Sandro Zammit, in a ceremony in his home country. He shared the news to his followers on social media, with a caption roughly translated as: “For better or for worse,” and an adorable picture of the newlyweds.

Glen and Sandro have been together for 19 years before tying the knot. During this period, Sandro backed Glen as a dancer on his 2011 Eurovision entry, “One Life.” The optimistic upbeat entry finished its semi-final in 11th place, missing the grand final by just one point. This wasn’t Glen’s first attempt at Eurovision nor his last; he took part in the Maltese national selection several times, from “Appreciate” in 2005 to “Breakaway” in 2015.

The wedding ceremony itself was quite a Eurovision affair, attended by several artists who have sung at Malta’s pre-selection over the years. Also among the guests was Amber, who won the 2015 national final Glen took part in and represented Malta with the song “Warrior” (which, by the way, also finished 11th in its semi-final).

Glen currently works mostly behind the scenes, as a vocal coach for other artists, but maybe in the future he’ll stand on the Eurovision stage once more. And when he does, why not bring his new husband to dance with him and make it a true family affair? As his 2011 entry says: “Life is strange and heavenly,” so anything is possible.
