KEiiNO have announced that they are going to do a small tour this year with a Christmas theme, between the 2nd and 9th of December. The whole tour will be broadcast later on Television, but according to the trio, you can you already follow them trough a Facebook link during the tour.
Their tour will be held in Kautokeino, in the Northern part of Norway, and it will be a collaboration with the Kautokeino culture school and Artic culture center in Hammerfest. Everything is planned in the best way due to the restrictions they currently have in Norway for everyone’s safety.
KEiiNO participated as Norway’s representative in Eurovision that was held in Tel Aviv last year. “Spirit In The SKy” is the song they participated with. It had elements of electronic pop with the sami inspired singing, with which they won the public vote and took 6th place overall in the final.
KEiiNO was created in 2018 after Tom Hugo and his husband Alex Olsson wrote their song “Spirit In The Sky”, a song about the struggles for equality. They wanted to have the Samí rapper Fred-René Buljo on board and later, Alexandra Rotan joined the group as one of the main vocalists. The group’s name “Keiino” is coming from the small village Kautokeino where Fred grew up.
