Mariam Bigvava has the honour of representing Georgia in Yerevan with her hard-hitting and meaningful ballad 'I Believe'. Here is all the information you need on Mariam and her song!

Who is Mariam Bigvava?

Mariam is a 11 singer from Tbilisi. She has been perfecting folk songs and traditional instruments.

Mariam enjoys listening to Billie Eilish and playing football. She lives with her pet parrot Shako and a dog named Maze.

How did she get selected?

The Georgian national final Ranina has been used to selected the country’s Junior Eurovision artist since 2018. The contest started in April (before even the adult contest I know!) with 10 artists had competed in 4 rounds. They were then whittled down to 6 for the semi final and 4 for the final. They were Nikoloz Kharati, Vache GhviniashvilliOto Bazerashvilli and of cource, Mariam Bigvava. In the end Mariam won after singing a cover of “Asetia es tskhovreba” (This is how this life is).

Tell us about the song!

I Believe‘ is about peace and wishing for war to stop, a theme I’m sure many can relate to in modern times. Lyrics such as “We will be in one house” and “It’s just a simple peace, I wish it for the world” symbolise Mariam’s desire for the world to come together in peace and harmony.

Sing along to 'I Believe': Lyrics

Georgian/English

Thing what we always need
Thing what we always want
Its just a simple peace
I wish it for the world
Thing what we always need
Thing what we always want
Its just a simple peace
I wish it for the world
World, world

გულიდან ისმის ხმა
გულიდან ისმის ხმა

ყ’ველანი ერთად მალე
მშვიდობის იმედით
ერთ სახლში ვიქნებით

Thing what we always need
Thing what we always want
Its just a simple peace
I wish it for the world
Thing what we always need
Thing what we always want
Its just a simple peace
I wish it for the world
World, world

Thing what we always need
Thing what we always want
(I wish it for the) World
(Thing what we) Always need
(Thing what we) Always want
(Its just a simple peace)
(I wish it for the world)
World

Georgia at Junior Eurovision

Georgia debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, the same year they made their debut at the adult contest.

In the 15 years they’ve taken part, Georgia have only failed to reach the top 10 twice. They have been runners up twice and won the contest 3 times; in 2008, 2011 and most recently in 2016 with Mariam Mamadashvili and the song “Mzeo” (Sun).

Last year in Paris, Georgia finished in 4th place with Niko Kajaia and his song “Let’s Count the Smiles“.
