Jessica Mauboy has delivered the next single of her ARIA number 1 album, Hilda. Butterfly was written by Jessica as a dedication to her parents.
In an interview with amnplify.com.au she said:
“Butterfly was also about how they inspire me to be the best person I can be, to be just like them – resilient, strong, brave and always thinking of others. No one writes songs about family and it can be tough to be direct and not cliche. That was the tug of war I’ve had in my mind”
Butterfly serves as the final release from the successful album Hilda. The album debuted at number 1 on the ARIA Album Charts. The single Little Things was certified ARIA platinum in October 2019, and another single selfish also made an impact on the Australian Charts.
Of course, Jessica is no stranger to the Eurovision stage. In 2014, she was selected to perform her song Sea Of Flags in an interval act at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.
In 2018 she returned as an actual contestant in Portugal, peforming her song We Got Love, finishing in 21st place.
