Jelena Tomašević is back! The Serbian queen of music has released her new single “Diraj mi usne” (Kiss My Lips) alongside an official music video.
This is the first song that Jelena has released in almost 1.5 years, since her last single, “Suncokret” in February 2019.
The music video, which dropped on her official YouTube channel today, sees Jelena moving elegantly around a dark room, wearing a beautiful long blue dress, as she is accompanied by many guitar playing men and people out on the town.
The song has been written and arranged by Goran Kovačić and Darko Dimitrov, whilst the music video has been directed by Vedad Jašarević.
The song could be described as a love song of sorts, but a love song in which two people can no longer be together, as Jelena sings “Touch my lips, this is the last time, I’m leaving…”
The song has a somewhat exotic and latin feel to it, with some Balkan undertones, especially with the guitar melody that is prevalent throughout the song. The style of the song suits Jelena and her vocals perfectly to create something that is very pleasing to the ear.
Jelena Tomašević made her debut on the Serbian music scene back in 2002, when she won a singing television show 3K dur. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength, releasing many more singles and albums, winning awards and taking part in many festivals across Serbia and the surrounding region.
In 2008, Jelena took to the Eurovision stage, representing her country on home soil in Belgrade with the beautiful Balkan ballad “Oro” that was written and composed by Željko Joksimović. She finished in 6th place with 160 points.
