It has been revealed that Jeangu Macrooy and Dutch broadcaster Avotros, will use Brussels-based creative director Hans Pannecoucke to stage the 2021 Eurovision entry for the Netherlands!
Hans is no stranger to Eurovision having previously worked with The Common Linnets (Netherlands, 2014), Douwe Bob (Netherlands, 2016), Manel Navarro (Spain, 2017), Waylon (Netherlands, 2018) and ZiBBZ (Swtizerland, 2018).
Incidentally, Hans will also work with Hooverphonic on the Belgian entry for 2021.
Who is Jeangu Macrooy?
Jeangu Macrooy is a Surinamese singer and songwriter from Paramaribo, and has lived in the Netherlands since 2014. His main genres have been described as modern soul, pop and alternative.
In January 2020 it was announced that Jeangu would represent the Netherlands at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest with Grow. Due to the contest’s subsequent cancellation amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this was not possible.
Soon after the contest’s cancellation however, Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS soon announced that Jeangu will represent the Netherlands as the host country in 2021.
