Several weeks ago, we learnt who will be the first artist to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. It’s the pop star Noa Kirel from Israel. Whereas we know the artist, we don’t know the song she will present to the contest. That’s why the artist’s team decided to organize a songwriting bandcamp.
It will call on songwriters who have already worked with Noa Kirel in the past. No names have officially been released, but some rumours from Euromix mention the presence of several big names on the Israeli music scene of the moment, such as Doron Medalie (Golden Boy, Made of Stars, Toy, Feker Libi), Jordi, Ron Beaton, Nitzan Kaykov, Itay Shimoni and Eitan Peled, who worked with Nadav Guedj, and revealed that he would be involved in the writing of Noa’s song for Eurovision.
Who is Noa Kirel?
Noa Kirel, a 21 years old singer is a famous Israeli pop star. In 2015, she released her first song “Medabrim“, and later, “Killer” her very first number one hit (below). Despite her young age, she won the award “Singer of the Year“ in 2016 and the MTV Europe Music Awards for the best Israeli act every year between 2017 and 2020.
Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest
Israel started in the contest in 1973, and was represented by Ilanit who finished in 4th place with the song “Ey Sham”. Their first victory came in 1978 with Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta. Then, they won 3 times, in 1979, 1998 and 2018 . The 2018 song “Toy”, the song has gone viral and is today one of the most viewed Eurovision songs of all time on YouTube. Israel never finished last in their history of the contest.
