Jessica McKean has her eyes set on Junior Eurovision glory following national final win
It’s Junior Eurovision season, and with only approximately five weeks to go until the live show takes place in Nice, Ireland’s entry Jessica McKean is ready to take to the stage this November. Jessica recently won Ireland’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest National selection process ‘Junior Eurovision Éire 2023’.
Despite being young, the big stage in Nice does not phase the 10 year old singer. In an interview shortly after her national final victory she expressed;
“It was just the best feeling. I cried for about 20 minutes. It is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It’s life-changing.I’m really excited about the next few weeks and performing in France. I’m not nervous at all, I can’t wait to do it.”
Whilst Jessica was performing at Junior Eurovision Éire 2023, a large watch party was held for her closest friends & family near to her hometown of Lifford. Jessica’s parents in particularly are so proud of their daughter’s success and cannot wait to see what the future holds. In a recent interview for Donegal News Jessica’s mum expressed;
“I have never felt that feeling in my heart that I felt when she won on Sunday night. I was trying to prepare Jessica all week, telling her that she is a winner regardless of what happens. Jessica will also be making a music video for her song. She’s so excited but taking it all in her stride. We’re all so proud of her.”
Jessica will be the youngest entry Ireland has ever sent to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the 10 year old is currently preparing for her performance at the Palais Nikaïa, Nice, on November 26. She will sing the song “Aisling” (Dream/Vision), which is expected to be released along with a music video in the coming weeks.
Jessica McKean will be hoping to build on Ireland’s result at last year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, Armenia. Sophie Lennon and her song “Solas” finished in 4th place with 150 points earning Ireland their best ever result in the contest to date. All will be revealed in the coming weeks as to whether Jessica’s song has what it takes to win the Junior Eurovision trophy this November in Nice.
