
It is always sad when a member of the Eurovision family passes away. Sadly, on the 6th of November it was announced that Timur Selçuk, the Turkish singer, pianist, conductor and composer had sadly died.
Selçuk conducted the first ever Turkish entry to the contest in 1975. In Stockholm, Sweden, he conducted ‘Seninle Bir Dakika’ which was performed by Semiha Yanki. On the night, this came 19th out of 19 countries with a total of 3 points.
In 1989, Selçuk returned to Eurovision. This time, travelling to Lausanne in Switzerland. He was the lyricist, composer, arranger and conductor of the song “Bana Bana” performed by Pan, They ended up coming 21st out of 22 entries with a total of 5 points
