Belgium at Eurovision

Belgium is one of the 7 countries that debuted in the very first Eurovision ever, in 1956. In 1986 Sandra Kim won the contest for Belgium with her song J’aime La Vie. Which brought the 1987 contest to Brussels. Belgium has 2 participating broadcasters, VRT and RTBF, the two rotate each year in selecting the Belgian representative. In 2003 group Urban Trad got the second place with their song Sanomi, which was sung in an imaginary language. In 2008 Belgium tried the imaginary language again, with Ishtar’s O Julissi, this proved to be less successful, as she did not make it through to the final. Hooverphonic was selected to represent Belguim at Eurovision 2020 before the contest got cancelled.
