Spain have chosen! It's Gonzalo Pinillos for Junior Eurovision 2025!
During a press conference held earlier today at Torrespaña in Madrid, it was revealed that 14 year old Gonzalo Pinillos will be representing Spain at this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Georgia.
The press conference saw newly elected Chair of the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group Ana María Bordas, Spain’s new Head of Delegation César Vallejo and Director of Communications at RTVE María Eizaguirre all in attendance.
After an open call was made by RTVE a few months ago, the broadcaster received a total of 270 applications. Once all the applications had been reviewed, a second in-person phase was held earlier in July, in which a jury panel was responsible for selecting the winner, and Spain’s Junior Eurovision 2025 representative.
The song that Gonzalo will be singing at Junior Eurovision 2025 will be chosen internally, and is expected to be released, alongside an official music video, in September.
Who is Gonzalo Pinillos?
Gonazlo Pinillos is a 14 year old singer and actor from Madrid, who has done a lot of work in musical theatre, becoming a rising star in Madrid’s theatre scene. His most notable role to date is his participation in School of Rock – The Musical. Gonzalo is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in acting for film and television at the Mario Bolaños School of Acting in Madrid.
Spain are one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision, having only ever finished outside of the top 6 on one occassion. The country celebrated their first, and only win so far, in 2004 with María Isabel. They have gone to achieve a further six top 5 placings, finishing in second place in 2003, 2005 and 2023, third place in 2019 and 2020 and 4th place in 2006.
Last year, Spain played host to Junior Eurovision for the first time, bringing the contest to Madrid. Their representative on home soil was Chloe DelaRosa, who sang “Como la Lola”. She finished the night in 6th place with 144 points.
