Germany To Select Their Junior Eurovision 2023 Entry Next Month

August 25, 2023

Following A One Year Break...Germany Decides on September 18th

Germany has announced their upcoming National Final to decide who will represent the country at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Nice, France on November 26th 2023.

Germany is returning to the contest following a break in 2022. The last time the country took part in 2021, they were represented by Pauline who performed the song “Imagine Us” and finished 17th with 61 points. The reason for their absence in 2022 is reportedly due to a decline in television ratings; the number of viewers that watched the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Germany declined by over a third compared to 2020.

The German Broadcaster, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) has announced that the 2023 entry will be decided by a combined jury and audience (online) vote. On September 8th, the five participants and their songs will be revealed to an online audience via the website, with voting concluding on September 17th. As well as the audience voting which counts towards 50% of the vote, an international jury of experts will vote and contribute towards the remaining 50%. On September 18th, the German entry for Junior Eurovision 2023 will be announced.

Fans will be eagerly awaiting the result of this National Final, with hopes that Germany can return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in style and finish closer to the top of the scoreboard.
