Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) confirmed its intent to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year, joining host country France, Ireland, The Netherlands, Russia, and Spain, who have also confirmed their participation.
However, the broadcaster has not divulged any information yet on how the Caucasian country will choose its entry. It has used both internal and national selection in selecting its past entries, with Sandra Gadelia chosen via national selection called “Ranina” in 2020. She went on to represent Georgia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the internally selected song You Are Not Alone and landed in 6th place.
Junior Eurovision 2021, which will be hosted by France in November following its first win, will be the 19th edition of the contest.
Georgia has enjoyed a streak of success in the contest, winning three times, in 2008, 2011, and 2016, as well as hosting the event in 2017 in its capital and largest city Tblisi. Along with it’s three wins, they have achieved a handful of top 5 placings.
