France 3 have confirmed that Eurovision 2022 will be broadcast with commentary in Breton.
France 3 Bretagne, one of France’s three regional services that broadcasts to persons in the administrative district of Brittany in France, have revealed that they will be broadcasting the Eurovision 2022 final with Breton commentary.
The France 3 commentators for the Eurovision 2022 final will be Goulwena an Henaff, Yann-Herle Gourves, Thelo Mell and Mael Gwenneg, who have all worked together before on a weekly Breton-dialiect television show. This will be the first time that France TV will provide commentary in the Breton dialect.
France TV will also be broadcasting all three live shows with French commentary, as usual. The two semi finals will be broadcast live on Culturebox with Laurence Boccolini providing the commentary. For the final, Laurence will be joined by Stéphane Bern as they provide French commentary on France 2.
France will be represented by Alvan and Ahez who will sing their song “Fullen”, completley in the Breton dialect. This is the first time since 1996 that the Breton dialect will be heard on the Eurovision stage. Dan Ar Braz and L’Héritage des Celtes finished in 19th place with their Breton song “Diwanit bugale” in 1996.
Are you excited to hear the Breton language back at Eurovision after so many years? What are your thoughts on Fullen? Let us know in the comments below!
