In an interview with L’Eurovision Au Quotidien, the French Head of Delegation, Alexandra Redde-Amiel, has confirmed that the French entry for Eurovision 2022 will be decided by a national final:

"Yes, this format will be repeated next year, and we are very happy about it!"

Alongside this conformation of a national final for 2022, Alexandra has also mentioned that there will be some minor changes and improvements made to the selection: “We spotted a few tweaks, little things to review, maybe in the mechanics. Everything can be improved, we are going to refine the whole, but without completely changing it, because we are very proud of the result.”

After many years of internal selections with varying results, France returned to a national final in 2018. Destination Eurovision was used as the nations selection method for Eurovision 2018 and 2019, which saw Madame Monseiur and Bilal go on to represent their country in Lisbon and Tel Aviv respectively.

After internally selecting Tom Leeb in 2020, France reverted to a national final for 2021, Eurovision Franc: c’est vous qui décidez, in which Barbara Pravi was crowned the winner and will represent the nation in Rotterdam this May.
