The Masked Singer has returned to British screens and the first episode saw a former Eurovision: You Decide judge performing under the mask! Singer/songwriter (and all round Diva) Sophie Ellis-Bextor became the first to be unmasked on the popular show that sees contestants sing disguised in elaborate outfits in a bid to outwit a panel of judges.
Sophie, who appeared on the judging panel of the 2017 UK Eurovision national final, performed as Alien and sang Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now in a dual against Robin who performed Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling. Despite Sophie’s attempts to disguise her distinctive voice, she was selected as the first contestant to leave the popular show, and be unmasked in front of the small studio audience and panel of judges.
Eurovision: You Decide 2017 saw Lucie Jones win the UK national final with the song I Will Never Give Up On You which was co-written by Danish Eurovision winner Emmelie De Forest, who won the contest in 2013 with Only Teardrops. Lucie went on to finish 15th in the Grand Final in Ukraine in a contest that eventually saw Portugal’s win for the first time with Salvador Sobral performing Amar Pelos Dois.
