Just over one week ago, Andorra’s Eurovision 2009 representative, Susanne Giorgi, spoke out about how she would love to see the microstate return to the contest. One week on, and all former Andorran Eurovision representatives have shown their support for a Eurovision return.
Speaking to Fan de carpeta on YouTube, all five Andorran Eurovision representatives from 2004 to 2008 have shown their support for Susanne Giorgi’s plan to get Andorra back in Eurovision.
"I think we need to have a very clear concept, how we are going to represent the country, who is going to write the song, who is going to sing the song. We have to be more clear that we are going to win or go to the final at least. We are really going to create our history and to let people know that there is a lot of talent here in Andorra."
Susanne Giorgi
All of Andorra’s Eurovision singers from 2004 to 2008 have all echoed the same sentiments – that returning to the contest is important for Andorra as a country, but also for it’s artists, and that they would love to see this happen one day.
"Eurovision is an international cultural event and there are many artists who have a lot to say. For Andorra, it is a advertising that would be important."
Gisela, Eurovision 2008 representative for Andorra
Andorra participated in Eurovision from 2004 until 2009. Out of six attempts, they unfortunatley never managed to qualify to the final. Their best result came in 2007 when the band Anonymous finished in 12th place in the semi final with 80 points with their song “Salvem el Món”.
Andorran broadcaster RTVA are yet to confirm whether they will be returning to Eurovision or if they won’t. But what do you think? Would you like to see Andorra back in Eurovision? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
