Finland's popular national selection 'Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu' will be returning in 2025

Finland has now officially confirmed their participation for Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland, and with this comes the news that they will continue to use their popular pre-selection ‘UMK’ to determine who will fly the Finnish flag in Switzerland next year.

It has now also been revealed that Finland’s broadcaster YLE has officially opened the song submission window to all musicians & song writers to get involved for next year’s contest. The application period began on Monday 19th August and will remain open until 23:00 CET on 25th August.

A record-breaking number of song submissions are expected in the lead up to next year’s edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu. Since YLE moved the national selection into the Nokia Arena in Tempere, the competition has grown in popularity across the country significantly, and as a result YLE expect numbers to continue to rise into 2025.

Similar to previous years, the artists & songs for UMK 2025 will be chosen by a jury of musical professionals chaired by YleX’s Head of Music Tapio Hakanen. A total of seven artists are expected to be selected to perform at the UMK 2025 national final, showcasing a wide variety of talents & musical genres.

At Eurovision 2024 Finland was represented by Windows95man & Henri Piispanen with their song “No Rules!”, the entry finished in 19th place in the Grand Final with 38 points overall. More exciting details surrounding UMK 2025 will be revealed in the coming months.
