The three live shows of Eurovision 2024 saw a viewership of 163 million.
The European Broadcasting Union have crunched the numbers and revealed the viewing figures and other data for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
The EBU have revealed that all three live shows for this years contest saw 163 million people tuning in from 37 broadcasters across Europe and Australia. This viewership sees an increase of one million compared to the 2023 contest in Liverpool, and an increase of two million compared to the 2022 contest in Turin.
The viewing share of this years grand final was 46.7%, which is the highest share seen for Eurovision since the 2006 contest in Greece. This figure is also almost triple the broadcast channels average at 17.6%.
Germany saw the highest audience for the grand final, with an average of 8.1 million people tuning in to the final on Das Erste and ONE. The United Kingdom and France were not far behind, with 7.7 million people tuning in to the final on BBC One and 5.4 million viewers in France, (an increase of 1.9 million compared to last years contest).
Eurovision 2024 winners Switzerland saw an average audience of 723,000 viewers across the three linguistic regions of the country, which is a 40% increase from the 2023 contest. This is the highest viewership for Eurovision recorded in Switzerland. Runners-up Croatia reported a similar situation – the country achieved its highest Eurovision audience and viewing share since 2006, with 1.1 million viewers and a 73.2% market share.
Rest of the world joins in
With the rest of the world vote continuing in Eurovision for a second year running, which saw viewers from 156 countries worldwide voting in this years contest, which is an increase of 12 countries compared to the 2023 contest in Liverpool.
The non-participating countries which cast the most votes online were: the USA, Canada, Romania, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, South Africa, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria.
