Israel’s first Eurovision participation was in 1973 with “Ey-Sham” by Ilanit. The country has won four times, in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018. Their first national selection took place in 1978, which provided them with their first victory with “A-Ba-Ni-Bi” by Alphabeta and Izhar Cohen.
The last Israeli artist to be internally selected was Mei Finegold in 2014 with the song “Same Heart”. For the past few years, Israel have chosen their artist through a national selection called “HaKoKhav HaBa l’Eurovizion”. Last year, it was the winner of X Factor, Michael Ben David, who represented with the song “I.M”.
