The Belgian broadcaster, RTBF, has announced its choice early today.

It is now official, the candidate who will represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is Jérémie Makiese, the last winner of The Voice Belgium.

As we reported last week, Belgium is the first country to announced the name of its representative.  The official website of the competition also recalls that Belgium has a recent tradition of revealing its choice very early compared to other countries.

Who is Jérémie Makiese?

The 20 years old young singer is from Uccle a South-West suburb of Brussels. Jérémie won the 9th edition of The Voice Belgium in 2021, while still a student in Geology, thanks to his amazing interpretation of “Jealous” by Labrinth. A performance that was very appreciated by the audience.

It was after a singing competition for which his father entered him in and that he won easily that the passion of music came into his life. This victory prompted him to register for the castings of The Voice Belgium.

But Jérémie is also a footballer, in fact, he has just signed a contract as a goalkeeper for the club Excelsior Virton.

Currently, Jeremy is still working on the song he will sing on the biggest stage in the world, so let us be patient! The designation of Jérémie by the Belgian broadcaster is unanimous in the country. Note that he speaks the two official languages of Belgium (Dutch and French) and his parents are from the Congo (a former Belgian colony).

What do you think of this choice? Are you excited to hear Jérémie’s song for the Eurovision 2022? Let us know in the comments below!
