Israeli broadcaster KAN have announced the selection method for Eden Alene’s Eurovision 2021 song. The broadcaster will organise a 16- song national final, with 3 shows, to select the song Eden Alene will sing in Rotterdam 2021.
From all of the submitted songs by Israeli songwriters, 16 songs will be selected by a panel to go though to the next round, where all the 16 songs will be available to listen to. Eight songs will go through to the semi-final shows. of which four will be selected by a jury and the other four by the public.
There will be two semi finals, each with four songs. The songs my be performed by another artist, or the songwriter themselves. Two songs from each semi-final will advance to the final, where Eden Alene will perform all four songs live.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the national final will most probably be held sometime in January or February, as KAN states that the final version of the song needs to be recorded by mid-February at the latest.

Since Israel debuted in Eurovision in 1973 with Ilanit and the song Ey Sham, they have gone onto win the contest four times. They are one of the few country to have won in 2 consecutive years, in 1978 and 1979, with A-Ba-Ni-Bi and Hallelujah! Furthermore, they also won in 1998 and 2018 with Diva and Toy. Israel has hosted the Eurovision 3 times, in 1979, 1999 and 2019. Eden Alene was supposed to represent the country in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the contest was cancelled.
