It’s Valentina for France in Junior Eurovision. Valentina has been chosen internally by the broadcaster France Télévisions in the hope of winning the Junior Eurovision 2021 title and hosting next year’s edition in France.
The French entry will be announced at a later date. We can’t wait to hear what Valentina will be bring to us in November!
The history of France in Junior Eurovision is quite short since. They decided to throw in the towel following their debut in 2004 and then disappeared off the radar. Back in the debut year of 2004 they held a national final where 7000 children competed. It was Thomas Pontier that won that year with his song “Si on voulait bien“.
Then followed a hiatus until they announced that they were interested to participate again in 2015. However, in the end the broadcaster, France 2, retracted their intrest for that year and announced that they didn’t intend to enter.
Then, in 2018 we got some very exciting news that France was coming back — this time for real. In 2018 they chose to compete with Angélina Nava, the fourth winner of The Voice Kids France. She competed with her song “Jamais sans toi” and finished in second place with 203 points. France returned in 2019 with Carla singing “Bim bam toi”, finishing in 5th. We are excited that France are continuing into the 2020s of Junior Eurovision!
It’s going to be interesting to see what France will bring to the the contest. What are your thoughts on Valentina? Tell us in the comment below or on out social media!
