One of the hosts of DORA, Barbara Kolar, has given some details about the new voting system to be implemented for the 2021 show.

Three weeks ahead of the Dora 2021, the voting system has been updated according to one of the hosts, Barbara Kolar. In an interview to Jutarnji list newspaper, she said the new rules has been adopted to match these of Melodifestivalen.

The Swedish voting system is based on an international jury from eight countries distributing their votes in the Eurovision style (1-8, 10 & 12). This sum represents 464 points from the jury and another 464 points to come from the public. The percentage of vote that a song got from televoting is multiplied by the total sum of points to get (464).  For example, song A on televoting gets 8% of the vote, and when that is multiplied by 464, you get 37.12. If we round it up, that’s 37 points, and that’s the number of points that song A got from the audience.

This new system will be explained with more detail by the Croatian broadcaster, HRT in the coming days. The decision to change the system was motivated to avoid another tie situation like in Dora 2020 or in the famous Dutch Finale in 2010.
