This week it was announced, that 16-year-old DJ Pieter Gabriel, in co-operation with Eric van Tijn, Eurovision 2021’s Musical Director, is going to produce a remix for the flag parade, which will open the grand final of the show on the 22nd of May at 21.00CET.
Despite Gabriel’s young age, he is a very experienced artist. In 2013, the DJ performed at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Five years later, he, together with a boyband FOURCE, who represented The Netherlands in Junior Eurovision 2017, recorded his first single “Forever”.
After the announcement, the young artist reacted with the words: “I think the opening is the coolest thing about the Eurovision Song Contest. It immediately sets the tone for the Grand Final. I’m going to create an energetic, up-tempo, but accessible sound on stage so that everyone can go wild! I hope my music provides a ray of hope in this difficult time. I’m really looking forward to it.”
During the flag parade, we will hear a modern style version of one of the most popular Dutch songs. We are going to wait for the reveal of the song’s title, because the producers want this to remain a surprise.
