Rumours over the weekend had indicated the festival could be delayed until April citing concerns over the situation with Covid-19 in the country. Furthermore, there was uncertainty on whether an audience would be allowed in the theatre given restrictions recently announced in Italy. Whilst it is not definite an audience will be present for the event, the broadcaster will work with authorities to try to allow for a small audience each night. The announcement confirms the potential use of a cruise ship to isolate artists, media and an audience will not happen.
