BNT has shared further information about their national final for Eurovision 2026.
The Bulgarian broadcaster has shared further details about how their national final for Eurovision 2026, and how the show will work to find Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2026 representative.
The national final will be comprised of three shows taking place between January and February 2026, and will see a total of 15 acts competing.
Show 1: January 24th
- 15 artists will perform one of their songs they have previously released
- Five jury members will award 1-5 points per artist
- The public can vote in an online vote on the BNT website, where the public’s favourite will receive 15 points and the least favourite will receive one point
- Seven artists will qualify to the next round. If there is a tie break, both artists will qualify
Show 2: January 31st
- The seven competing artists perform another one of their songs they have previously released
- Five different jury members award 1-5 points per artist
- The public can vote in an online vote on the BNT website where the public’s favourite will receive seven points and the least favourite will receive one point
- The artist with the highest combined score will become Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2026 representative. If there is a tie, the televote winner wins.
Show 3: February 28th
- The winning artist performs three songs provided by BNT via a songwriting team
- After each performance, the jury members from the first two shows, and the public, will award three points to their favourite, 2 points to their second favourite and 1 point to their least favourite song
- The song with the highest combined score will become Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2026 entry
- If there is a tie break, the televoting winner wins
Further details about the show, including the hosts, and where the shows will take place, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
BNT announced Bulgaria’s return to Eurovision 2026 at the end of October, joining Moldova and Romania in returning to the contest.BNT Director General Emil Koshlukov explained the main reasons for the country’s return to Eurovision was “…to once again provide an opportunity for a Bulgarian artist to represent our country in front of an audience of millions.”
Eurovision 2026 will see Bulgaria’s first participation since 2022, when Intelligent Music Project performed “Intention” in semi final one, finishing in 16th place with 29 points.
