Athena Manoukian releases new single “You Should Know”

| January 28, 2021

Athena Manoukian has released her new single You Should Know, including a music video. In this power ballad, Manoukian is struggling with her feelings. She therefore shows us a different, more vulnerable side of herself which strongly differs from her former single Chains On You.

Athena Manoukian – You Should Know (Lyrics):

So I’m starring again
You left me hanging
When my heart held me there
But you were playing around
I’m so messed up right now
How to save my soul
In your mind there’s no place to go
Take it, drop it, break it, crush it
Is that not enough?
Living in pain
I – I loved you baby
See me now, my heart is pounding
Were you playing around?
I’m so messed up right now
How to save my soul
In your mind there’s no place to go
Is that not enough?
All the days, all the nights, all the years
Have made up for you
And all the tears, all the fears, all the lies are here for you babe
Can’t you see it now?
Take it, drop it, break it, crush it
You should know
How to love how to save a soul
In your mind there’s no place to go
Is that not enough?
You should know
In your mind there’s no place to go

Athena Manoukian was supposed to represent Armenia with the song Chains On You at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this event had to be cancelled. At this point, it is still unknown whether Manoukian will represent the Caucasian country again in 2021 or not. Also, considering the short-term withdrawal from Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 due to severe political conflicts, the confirmation of Armenia for Eurovision might be in danger as well if the situation doesn’t improve. However, there hasn’t been any indicators towards this scenario. The deadline for each country to submit an entry to the EBU is the 14th of March 2021.

Armenia at Eurovision

Armenia firstly participated in 2006 with the song Without Your Love by Andre with an impressive 8th place debut. Since then, Armenia qualified 10 out of 13 participations (excluding 2020) and finished in the Top10 six times already which makes Armenia one of the more successful countries at Eurovision. Their best result so far is a 4th place from 2008 with the song Qele, qele by Sirusho as well as in 2014 with the song Not Alone by Aram Mp3
