Last month, Armenia’s 2020 Eurovision representative, Athena Manoukian, released her first new song since she won the national final show “Depi Evratesil” that gave her the right to represent the Caucasus country in Rotterdam. Despite the contest’s cancellation, Athena impressed many fans with her stylish choreography and modern-sounding vocals that worked very well in her Eurovision song “Chains On You”. The rap-pop , uptempo number won Armenia’s vote in February when Athena beat out another fan-favourite rapper, Tokionine, for the ticket to Eurovision.
But now, Athena has new material and interests on her mind before she turns attention back to Eurovision after her return to Rotterdam 2021 was confirmed by the Armenian Broadcaster in late April.
Proudly showcasing a similar style of music to “Chains On You”, Athena’s new track also features an insatiably catch instrumental to rap-influenced vocals. Named “Dolla”, the song is similar but equally as intriguing as Athena’s earlier work. The cover photo of the single truly represents the bold and stylish look that Athena has sported since her Eurovision journey began and with next season just around the corner, she looks more than ready to wow us in Rotterdam.
