Janet Grogan is no stranger to Eurovision or TV perfomances! Will she bring her song Ashes Of Yesterday to Turin for Ireland!

Song 3 for Ireland’s Eurosong 2022 is Janet Grogan with Ashes of Yesterday!

Singer Janet studied popular music in Dublin, and subsequently earned her a scholarship to Germany’s prestigious Pop Music University in Mannheim, Germany.

This is not Janet’s first experience with Eurovision as she accompanied Nicky Byrne in 2016 and Ryan O’ Shaughnessy in 2018 as a backing vocalist. Janet was a contestant on The X-Factor in 2016, making it to Sharon Osbourne’s house with amazing compliments from Sharon’s guest Robbie Williams likening Janet to Adele.

Most recently, Janet was on RTÉ’s Last Singer Standing, and was the longest-running contestant on the show, making it to the final. It has been a lifelong dream for Janet to represent Ireland in Eurovision. Her earliest memory is watching Niamh Kavanagh storm the stage in 1993 which inspired the 5-year-old to sing herself and dream that one day she could be there, too.

Janet says: “Ashes of Yesterday is all about rebuilding yourself up after disappointment, to not let self-doubt or others bring you down. The message is so powerful and encouraging, especially after the tough few years everyone has had. I want to uplift people and if I can do it while representing Ireland, that would be a dream come true.”

As previously reported, Ireland will return to a national selection for the first time since 2015, and as with previous years the selection will take the form of a special Eurovision edition of the popular long running, live entertainment show —  ‘The Late Late Show‘.

On Monday morning, two songs were released during the Ryan Tubridy Show [listen here] followed by an additional song premiering on the same radio show each day for the rest of the week.  The show airs between 10:00 and 11:00 CET.

Song 1: Rachel Goode — I’m Loving Me

Song 2: Brendan Murray — Real Love

Rachel Goode from Ballinasloe Co, Galway. Rachel was offered to sing her song after the Swedish songwriters went on Instagram to find an Irish singer.  They found Rachel, loved her voice and now she is set to perform in front of her biggest audience yet on Eurosong, February 4th. The song “I’m loving me” will be released January 17th on Youtube and on the 18th everywhere else.

Brendan Murray is no stranger to Eurovision having represented in Ireland in 2017 with his song ‘Dying to Try’.  Brendan has been busy since he last competed in Eurovision.  in 2018 he participated in The X Factor UK and reached the semi-final!
