The Cypriot represtatives for Junior Eurovision 2025 have been revealed.
The Cypriot broadcaster has confirmed that Rafaella Panteli and Christos Georgiou will represent Cyprus at Junior Eurovision 2025 with the song “Away”.
In addition to calling for artists to audition to represent Cyprus at Junior Eurovision, the broadcaster also made a call for songs. A total of 20 songs were submitted, with “Away” being declared the winner. The song has been written and composed by Christopher Wortley, Hannah Brine, Peter Barringer, Greig Watts, Paul Drew and Andy Lys. The song will be released at a later date.
The Cypriot Junior Eurovision representatives were selected via an internal selection, which saw 70 acts participating in auditions that took place earlier this month at CyBC studios in Nicosia.
At the auditions, a selection committee was responsible for assessing the participants vocal abilities, stage presence and their ability to perform a song. A 5-member jury panel made up of 3 adults and 2 children awarded points to each artist in Eurovision-style (1-8 points, 10 points, 12 points), with the artist receiving the most number of votes being declared the winner.
Who are Rafaella and Christos?
14 year old Rafaella Panteli was born in 2011 and has an extensive history in singing, dancing and musical theatre. She has had the lead role in productions such as Annie, Into the Woods, The Greatest Showman and Hairspray. She also has many first place awards in national and international dance competitions. is currently working towards her Grade 8 Musical Theatre exam at Trinity College London.
Christos Georgiou is 12 years old and has been singing and performing since childhood. In addition to singing and performing, Christos is also trained in dance and basketball, and plays the drums, in which he is currently at grade 6. In the last year, he has also started composing his own music.
Cyprus debuted at the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 with Theodora Rafti.With the exception of 2005, Cyprus participated every year up until 2009, with their best result coming from Marios Tofi in 2004, as he finished in 8th place with 61 points. Between 2010 and 2013, Cyprus was absent from the contest. They returned in 2014, 2016 and 2017, before withdrawing again until 2024. Last year, they returned to the contest with Maria Pissarides.
