After six years of falling viewing figures, the 2021 edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix saw its first increase in since 2015, with 1,532,000 people watching it. That’s the highest total since 2016, when 1,563,000 viewers tuned in to watch Lighthouse X claim an unexpected victory with “Soldiers Of Love.”
The figure for 2021 sees a 25% increase in viewers from the 2020 contest. As is usual for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix most years, it was the most watched programme in Denmark this week.
After seeing off seven other acts and winning 37% of the televote in the superfinal, Fyr Og Flamme will represent Denmark at Eurovision in May. They will be singing their uptempo 80s-inspired song, “Øve Os På Hinanden” (Practice On Each Other), which is the first song entirely in Danish to represent the country since 1997.
Fyr Og Flamme are a duo consisting of Laurits Emanuel, who wrote their winning song, and lead singer Jesper Groth. You can take a look at their performance right here:
