Fans from Bosnia & Herzegovina in Eurovision have to be strong now: The country will not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. According to a news article on ESC Today, the Bosnian national broadcaster BHRT has confirmed that Bosnia & Herzegovina will not participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam.
The broadcaster explained that the non-participation is effected due to financial problems, the country is still under EBU sanctions and can’t participate at the Eurovision Song Contest until it respects its dept. This is also the reason why they were unable to broadcast the contest in previous years.
Further countries that have already confirmed they will not participate in the next year’s Eurovision Song Contest are: Andorra, Luxembourg, Monaco and Slovakia.
Bosnia & Herzegovina have taken part 19 times at the Eurovision Song Contest until their withdrawal after 2016. They received their best result in 2006 with Lejla, composed by Željko Joksimović and performed by Hari Mata Hari, placing 3rd in the grand final with 229 points.
