After he was involved in a traffic accident in the village of Stari Laz, Croatia, on July 29 2020, where he lost control of his vehicle and fell down an abyss, Rajko Dujmić sadly passed away six days later, on August 4, in the hospital at age 65.
Rajko Dujmić was a Croatian sonwriter, composer, music producer and member of the group “Novi fosili”. He composed the winner song “Rock Me” along with Stevo Cvikić, which gave Yugoslavia their first and only victory in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song was performed by the pop band Riva at the Eurovision Song Contest 1989. Dujmić was also responsible for the two previous Yugoslav entries in 1987 and 1988: “Ja sam za ples“, sung by Novi fosili and “Mangup“, sung by Srebrna Krila.
Dujmić composed many songs for the band “Novi fosili”, five of which took part at Jugovizija, the Yugoslavian national selection for Eurovision.
In 2013 Dujmić received the Croatian music award “Porin” for lifetime achievement. He was involved in 1,821 music pieces and is one of the most successful composers in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Our thoughts go out to Rajko’s family and friends during this difficult time.
