Are you ready for some magic?
That’s good, because Alexander Rybak has just released his newest single, Magic.
Underneath the smooth cheerful music lies a darker meaning to the lyrics, referring to his recent admission to battles with substance abuse. A statement on his official website reads:
“Magic is Alexander’s tribute to life after a long battle out of drug problems. The song was written when Alexander came across a blog about a serious illness. The girl openly shared about her life, although it could be extremely difficult at times. Like many other readers, Alexander found comfort and strength in the blog, and decided to write the song as a tribute to the girl.”
Of course, Alexander is no stranger to the world of Eurovision. He has competed twice for Norway, winning in 2009 with Fairytale, and placing 15th in 2018 with That’s How You Write A Song
