The 16 finalists that will be participating in Malta's national final for Junior Eurovision 2022 have been revealed.
Malta confirmed their Junior Eurovision 2022 participation back in June, and confirmed that the final 16 acts in their selection process will take part in the televised national final, which is expected to take place on Sunday, October 2nd.
At the present time, it is unknown when the 16 competing songs will be available to listen to.
At the present time, a total of 17 countries have confirmed their participation for Junior Eurovision 2022 in Armenia.
16 out of 19 countries from Junior Eurovision 2021 will be returning this year. Russia will not be participating due to the broadcaster being banned by the EBU; Germany have withdrawn from the contest for a “creative break” and Azerbaijan have yet to make a decision on participation.
The United Kingdom will be returning to the contest for the first time since 2005, with the BBC as the broadcaster in charge.
Previous Junior Eurovision participating countries Australia; Belgium; Israel; Montenegro; Slovenia and Wales have all confirmed they will not be returning to the contest. Finland and Switzerland have confirmed they will not be making their debut in the contest.
